Carrot Poriyal/Upperi

Carrot poriyal is a easy ,healthy and yummy recipe that goes great with any rice dish.


What you need for carrot poriyal:
  • Carrot-4 peeled and grated
  • Coconut-2 tbsp grated
  • Onion-1 chopped fine
  • Green chilli-2 slit
  • Curry leaves-few
  • Chana daal-1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds-1/2 tbsp
  • Red chilli-2
  • Garlic-2 
  • Salt to taste
The preparation method:
  • Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds.Add chana dal and sauté till they turn brown.
  • Add onion,garlic ,green chilli,curry leaves,salt and red chilli.
  • Saute till the onions turn transparent.
  • Then add the grated carrot.and sprinkle little water.
  • Cook till carrot gets cooked.
  • Finally add the grated coconut.
  • Yummy and healthy carrot poriyal/upperi is ready to served with rice.
