Beetroot Halwa

Beetroot are highly nutritious and heart-friendly root vegetables.Beetroot Halwa is a delicious Indian sweet similar to Carrot Halwa.It is easy to prepare and tastes great.

What you need for Beetroot halwa:

  • Grated beetroot - 2 cups 
  • Milk - 1 cup 
  • Sugar - 1 1/2 cups 
  • Cardamom powder - 1 tbsp
  • Sliced pistachios - 1 tbsp
  • Broken cashew nuts - 1 tbsp
  • Ghee  - as required
The preparation method:
  • Heat a tablespoon of ghee in a small pan. Roast the cashewnuts and keep aside.
  • In a heavy bottomed pan,heat the remaining ghee. Add the grated beetroot and saute for about 5 minutes on medium heat. 
  • Add the milk and allow the mixture to come to a boil. Once it comes to a boil, simmer the heat and allow the beetroot to cook in the milk until all the milk gets absorbed. 
  • Once all the liquid is evaporated, add the sugar and cook until all the sugar is well dissolved. 
  • Finally stir in the cardamom powder, roasted cashewnuts and the pistachios and stir on medium heat for a couple of minutes. 
  • Sweet and tasty Beetroot halwa is ready to be served warm.
