King Fish (Vanjaram) Fry

KingFish ( vanjaram / batang ) fish is an expensive fish and is a popular delicacy of south indian seafood cuisine. Its fat content ranges from 3-30% and a good source of vitamin D and B12. King Fish fry is one of our favourite seafood delicacy :-)


What you need to make King Fish Fry:
  • King fish steaks – 4-5 of medium size
  • Shallots - 15 to 20
  • Chilly powder – 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 tbsp
  • Lime juice – 1 tbsp
The preparation method:
  • Apply little salt and lime juice on the fish pieces and wash it with water. Drain the water. 
  • Grind together the shallots,chilli powder,turmeric powder and salt into a fine paste adding a little water.
  • Make gashes in the fish pieces and marinate the pieces with the ground paste. Keep the marinated fish for half an hour. 
  • Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the fish pieces.Serve with onion rings and a slice of lime.
