Prawns thokku

Prawn Thokku is a simple but tasty dish cooked in fiery gravy flavored with aromatic spices and herbs.The combination of rasam and this thokku is absolutely delicious. We love this dish even with just plain rice!


What you need for Prawns Thokku:
  • Prawns - 1/4kg peeled and cleaned
  • Onion - 1 chopped
  • Green chilli - 2 sliced
  • Garlic - 6 pods
  • Ginger - 1 small piece
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Tomato  - 2 grounded
  • Fenugreek seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Coriander powder - 2 tbsp
  • Chilli powder - 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
The preparation method:
  • Heat oil in a pan and drop fenugreek seeds.
  • After a few seconds,add onion,ginger, garlic,green chilli ,curry leaves and salt.
  • Sauté well.When the onions turn brown add the grounded tomato.
  • Add coriander powder,chilli powder and turmeric powder.
  • Add the prawns and let the gravy boil till the prawns are well cooked.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Tasty Prawn Thokku is ready to be served hot with rice.
