Chicken Vepudu

Chicken Vepudu is a hot and spicy chicken stir fry dish from Andhra Pradesh.
It is easy to prepare and suit you if you have a taste for spicy food.
What you need for Chicken Vepudu :

  • 500g chicken
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, finely chopped
  • Ginger-Garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp peppercorns
  • 1 tbsp chilli powder or to taste
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • salt to taste
  • few curry leaves
  • few coriander leaves
The preparation method:
  • Cut the chicken into small pieces, wash and drain the water.
  • Take a vessel and add the washed chicken pieces, chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste,pepper corn, salt and very little amount of water.
  • Cook on medium flame for 20 mins or till the chicken become tender.
  • Now heat a pan with oil and add mustard seeds.
  • When they start to pop add curry leaves and chopped onions.
  • Saute till they turn into golden yellow colour.
  • Add chopped tomatoes and ginger garlic paste.
  • Saute till the raw smell disappears.
  • Now add the cooked chicken pieces along with the water.
  • Mix well and cook on medium low flame for further 10-15 mins.
  • Finally adjust salt and garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Now your easy and tasty chicken vepudu is ready to serve.
  • Serve hot with plain white rice or roti.
