- Raw rice - 3cup
- Boiled rice - 1 cup
- Fenugreek seed-2 tbsp
- Urad daal-1 cup
Preparation method:
- Soak rice ,fenugreek seeds and uraad daal in water for minimum 2 hours.
- Grind it to a fine batter using a blender or grinder. The batter should not be too watery or thick.
- Allow it to ferment.Normally it takes a half a day.
- Add salt when you are ready to make dosa.
How to make a dosa :
- To make dosa, heat a tawa / skillet.
- Take a ladle full of dosa batter and spread it in a circular motion.
- When one side is done, flip it to the other side. Cook for 2-3 seconds and flip it again.
- Cook on both sides for a few seconds. Serve hot.
A masala dosa is a popular variant made by stuffing a dosa with a lightly cooked filling of potatoes, fried onions and spices.
What you need for masala:
- Potato-2 mashed
- Onion-1 chopped
- Tomato-1 chopped
- Ginger-1 piece
- Green chilli-2 chopped
- Curry leaves-few
- Coriander leaves-few
- Chilli powder-1 tbsp
- Turmeric powder-1/2tbsp
- Cumin seeds-1/2 tbsp
- Mustard seeds-1/2 tbsp
- salt to taste
Preparation method:
- Boil potatoes and mash it well .
- Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seed and cumin seeds
- Add onion,ginger,green chilli ,curry leaves and salt in to it.
- Saute onions till they turn it to brown.
- Add tomatoes and cook well.
- Add chilli powder and turmeric powder in to it.
- Then finally add the mashed potatoes in to it and mix it well.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Put the masala on the top of the dosa and fold the dosa
- Yummy masala dosa is ready to be served with chutney or Sambar
