Aloo Methi

Aloo Methi is a very classic Indian recipe where the potatoes are cooked along with the very aromatic fenugreek leaves.This is a popular Indian vegetarian recipe usually served with hot rotis.
What you need for Aloo Methi:
  • Onion - 2 finely chopped
  • Potato-3 chopped
  • Tomato - 2 finely chopped
  • Green chilli - 2-3
  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  • Methi leaves - 1 bunch , just the leaves - washed well
  • Cumin / Jeera seeds - 1/2 tbsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder - a pinch
  • Garam masala - 1/4 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing
The preparation method:
  • Heat some oil in a large pan and add cumin seeds.Fry for a few seconds and then add chopped onion and salt. Sauté till the onions turn golden brown.Add green chilli,ginger-garlic paste and saute for some more time till the raw taste of ginger-garlic paste goes away.
  • Add chopped tomatoes and cook till the tomatoes are well done(add water if necessary).
  • Add all the coriander ,red chilli ,and garam masala  powders and mix well.
  • Add the methi leaves and cook for a minute.
  • Finally , add the potatoes and cook for 15 minutes till potatoes is well cooked.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves. Hot and spicy aloo methi is ready to serve with rotis...
