Samosa



Samosas are probably the most popular Indian appetizer and a favorite tea-time snack all over Indian sub-continent.

What you need for Samosa :
  • Spring roll / Pastry sheet - 4
  • Onion - 1 finely chopped
  • Potato - 4 
  • Carrot - 2 
  • Green peas -1 cup
  • Cashew nuts-5 no
  • Ginger garlic paste -1 tbsp
  • Green chilli-2 
  • Coriander leaves -few
  • Garam masala -1/2 tbsp
  • Coriander powder -1 tbsp
  • Chilli powder-1/2 tbsp
  • Cumin - 1/2 tbsp
  • Pepper powder- 1/2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
The Preparation method:
  • Boil the potato, carrot and peas with little salt.
  • Heat oil in a pan and splutter cumin seeds.Add onion,cashew nuts,green chilli,ginger garlic paste and salt.
  • when the onion turns brown ,mix the vegetables in to it.Add garam masala,chilli powder,coriander powder and pepper powder.
  • Mash and mix the vegetables well. Add coriander leaves in to it.
  • Cut pastry sheet in the shape of a circle and then cut it in 2 semi-circles. Take one semi circle and fold it like a cone. Stuff it with the masala filling and seal the cone using water or egg wash making it triangular in shape.
  • Heat oil in a kadai and deep fry the samosas till golden brown.
  • Serve samosa hot with your favorite chutney  along with piping hot tea.

    What is that Pastry sheet?can we use maida or wheat to make samosas???

      Pastry sheet is Pre-rolled sheets, which can be used straight from frozen or quickly defrosted and used to cut into whatever shape is required.You can make this sheet at home also with wheat or Maida.
