Aval / Poha Payasam

Why not set all your regular payasam aside and give Aval or Poha payasam a try.This is a fairly simple recipe just like any other payasam.

What you need to make Aval Payasam :
  • Rice flakes/Poha/Aval - 1 cup
  • Milk -1/2 ltr
  • Sugar - 1 cup 
  • Cashew nut - 10 no
  • cardamom - 4 ( powdered)
  • Raisins - 10 no
  • Ghee - 2 tbsp
The Preparation method:
  • Roast cashew nut and raisins in ghee till they are slightly brown. Remove and keep aside.
  • Put aval/poha  in same pan and roast till they are also slightly brown.
  • Pour milk in it.Stir well and cook it in low flame.
  • Add sugar, cardamom powder and mix well.Cook in low flame for few more minutes.
  • Garnish with cashewnuts and raisins.
  • Tasty aval payasam is ready to be served  hot/chilled.
