Kudampuli Chemmeen / Prawn

KudamPuli (Gambooge) Chemmeen (Prawn) is the recipe for a very simple spicy and tangy prawns curry which can be made quickly with minimum ingredients. 

What you need for Kudampuli Chemmeen:
  • Prawns/chemmeen - 250 gm
  • Kudampuli/ Gambooge  - 2 piece soaked in 1/ 2 cup of warm water 
  • Red chilli powder - 1 tbsp
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder- 1/4 tbsp
  • Pepper powder - 1/2 tbsp
  • Garam masala -1/2 tbsp
  • Coconut - 1/4 cup cut in to pieces
  • Onion - 1 chopped
  • Ginger garlic paste- 1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds- 1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves -few
  • Salt to taste
The preparation method:
  • Marinate the prawns with ginger-garlic paste,curry leaves,red chilli powder,coriander powder ,turmeric powder,pepper powder garam masala and salt. Keep it for some time.
  • Cook the prawns with kudampuli water until the prawns is well cooked.
  • Heat oil in pan.Splutter mustard seeds,add coconut pieces. Fry for few minutes.Then add chopped onions,curry leaves and little bit salt. Saute till the onions turn brown.Then add cooked prawns and mix well.Saute for some more time.then switch off the flame.
  • Tasty prawns is ready to be served with rice.
