Semiya or Vermicelli Payasam

Semiya Payasam is a South Indian Style Vermicelli And Milk Sweet / Pudding. This is one of the easiest among the many payasams of South India.

What you need to make Semiya Payasam:
  • Semiya / Vermicelli - 1 cup 
  • Milk- 1/2 liter
  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • Cardamom - 4
  • Raisins- 10
  • Cashew nut -10
  • Pistachio - 5
  • Ghee -2 tbsp
The preparation method:
  • Dry roast the semiya in ghee till it turns slightly brown color. Set  aside.
  • Roast raisins,cashew nuts and pistachio in ghee till slightly brown in a wide pan.
  • Add milk and sugar. When the milk start boiling , add semiya.
  • Stir well till the semiya is cooked well.
  • Finally add the cardamom powder.
  • Tasty semiya payasam is ready to be served hot or cold.
