Pumpkin pachadi

Pumpkin / Mathanga Pachadi is a kerala sadhya dish made of cooked pumpkin and green chilies added in coconut paste and curd.

What you need for Pumpkin pachadi:
  • Pumpkin - 1 cup chopped
  • Coconut grated -1/2 shell
  • Mustard seeds -1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds- 1/2 tbsp
  • Green chilli -2
  • Shallots -4
  • Red chilli -2
  • Curry leaves -few
  • Curd- 1cup
  • salt to taste
The preparation method:
  • Boil the pumpkin with salt .
  • Grind the coconut with mustard seeds,cumin,green chilli and shallots.
  • When the pumpkin is well done , add the ground mixture in to it. Boil for few minutes.
  • Finally add curd ,mix well and switch off the flame.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Splutter mustard seeds,fry red chilli and curry leaves.
  • Pour this in to the pachadi.
  • Tasty pumpkin pachadi is ready to be served with rice.
