Maida Halwa

We didn't realise Halwa is such an universal sweet till we can came across http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halva !

Maida Halwa is a popular sweet in Kerala , sold especially fancy colours in railway stations and bus stands.

What You need for Maida Halwa:
  • Maida - 1 cup
  • Sugar - 2 cups
  • Ghee - 1 cup
  • Cashew nuts - 8 no  chopped
  • Cardamom - 4 crushed
  • Raisins -few
  • Saffron or food color- pinch
The Preparation method:
  • Boil 1 cup of water and dissolve the sugar till reaches thread consistency.
  • Pour enough water in maida and thin batter with out any lumps.Add saffron or color and keep it aside.
  • Pour the Maida batter to the sugar syrup and stir continuously till becomes thick.
  • When it start thickening add ghee and mix well till it leaves the sides of the vessel.
  • Add cardamom and mix.
  • Decorate with fried cashew nuts and raisins.
  • Maida halwa is ready to serve.
