Mango Payasam / Kheer

We recently found the recipe for Mango Payasam / Kheer in 'The Hindu'. The recipe looked easy and the photo made our mouth to water so we tried this recipe on that itself and it did taste yummy.Try it out to break the monotony of eating the usual mango dishes.


What you need to prepare Mango Payasam:
  • Mango - 1 ripe
  • Milk - 3 cups
  • Rice - 50 gms
  • Sugar - 150 gms
  • Roasted Cashew - 5
  • Roasted Raisins - 5
  • Cardamom - 1 pod
The preparation method:
  • Boil rice in a cup of milk in the pressure cooker.
  • Peel the mango and grind into a pulp.
  • Boil the remaining milk in a pressure pan till it is reduced to one and half cups
  • Add the mango pulp,boiled rice and sugar to this and stir well for a few minutes.
  • Garnish with cardamom,roasted cashew and raisins.
  • Yummy Mango Payasam is ready to be served hot or cold.
