Panchamritham

Panchamritham,literally meaning five nectars, is the oldest form of jam or fruit mix sweet made in Hindu temples for pooja. This is also popularly sold as prasadam at Lord Murugan's Palani temple in Tamilnadu.


What you need for Panchamritham:
  • Ripe Banana - 1
  • Dates - 6 seeds removed
  • Raisins - few
  • Sugar candy - few pieces
  • Ghee - 1 tbsp
  • Honey - 1 tbsp
  • jaggery - 1 small chunk
The preparation method:
  • Take a clean , dry mixing bowl.
  • Mash the bananas with hand and mix the raisins, dates, jaggery ,sugar candy, honey and ghee together.
  • Mash them well.
  • Store in air tight container in the refrigerator.
  • Delicious Panchamritham is ready to be served cold as dessert.
