Ethakka Tholi Upperi

Plantain (ethakka in malayalam) is used in all forms..from chips to steamed plantains to whatever you can think of. So next time you make plantain chips, dont throw away the skin. You can make yummy upperi with it.

What you Need for Ethakka tholi upperi:
  • Plantain Skin (Ethakka tholi)  - 4 Raw Bananas 
  • Small onion/Onion - 1/2 cup chopped
  • Green chilli- 2 slit
  • Coconut chopped / grated- 1/4 cup
  • Red chilli-1
  • Mustard seeds-1/2 tbsp
  • Curry leaves-few
  • Salt to taste
The preparation method:
  • Heat oil in a pan.Splutter mustard seeds ,saute red chillies and curry leaves.
  • Add onion ,green chilli and salt and saute till the onions are transparent.
  • Add the chopped banana tholi and sprinkle some water
  • Add the grated coconut.
  • Allow it to cook for 10 minutes.
  • Tasty Ethakka tholi upperi is ready to serve with rice.
