Onion Pakoda

Onion pakoda is one of the popular street side snacks in Tamil Nadu and a wonderful tea-time snack. 


What you need to make Onion pakoda :
  • Gram flour/besan - 1 cup
  • Rice flour - 1/4 cup
  • Baking soda -  1 pinch
  • Onion- 2  chopped into lengthwise
  • Green chillies- 2 chopped lengthwise
  • Ginger- a small piece cut lengthwise
  • cumin seeds- 1/4 tbsp
  • saunf- 1/4 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves -few chopped
  • Curry leaves- a few chopped
  • Cashew nut -5 no
  • Salt to taste
The Preparation method:
  • Mix onion,green chilli ,ginger,curry leaves,coriander leaves ,cashew nut and salt.
  • Add Besan ,rice flour and baking soda by adding little oil.Add saunf and cumin in to it.
  • Mix both the mixture together.sprinkle some water. Ensure the mix is not too wet.
  • Heat oil in a pan and when it turns golden brown take it out. Place it on a tissue paper to ensure the excess oil is drained out.
  • Tasty Onion Pakoda is ready to be served with tea.
