Paalada Pradhaman

Sadhya means “big feast” in Malayalam. No Sadhya is complete without a Paalada Pradhaman. Palada pradhaman is a sweet dish made of flakes of cooked rice, milk, and sugar. Traditional Ada was made at home but involves lot of work. What you need for Paalada Pradhaman:
  • Rice ada - 200 gms (Store bought)
  • Milk (Whole) - 1.5 ltr
  • Sugar - 1/2 kg
  • Cardamom -5  (powdered) 
  • Ghee -2 tbsp
  • Cashew nut - 10 fried


The preparation  method:
  • Wash the ada in cold water.Pour some boiled water over the washed ada.Close it for 15  minutes.
  • Boil 1.5 L milk with 2 cups of water and add the soaked ada.
  • Cook in gentle flame stirring all the time till the ada becomes very soft and the color of the milk changes to pink.
  • Add sugar and continue stirring .To this add ghee and cardmom powder and stir for few minutes on low flame.
  • Switch off the flame and add fried cashews .Keep it aside for sometime.Serve hot or chilled.
