Sweet Potato Puzhukku

Sweet Potato Puzhukku is a traditional, tasty recipe of Palakkad.The combination of sweet potato and chilli is very tasty and goes well with rice or kanji.

What you need for Sweet Potato/ Madhura kizhangu Puzhukku:
  • Sweet potato -2 peeled and cubed
  • Coconut grated -1/2 shell
  • Green chilli -2
  • Cumin-1/2 tbsp
  • Shallots -2
  • Garlic -2 (optional)
  • Turmeric powder - a pinch
  • Curry leaves -few
  • Red chilli -1
  • Mustard seed -1/2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
The preparation method:
  • Boil the sweet potato with salt and turmeric powder.
  • Grind coconut with cumin,green chilli,shallots and garlic. Garlic is optional ,if u doesnt like the smell then no need to add.
  • When the sweet potato is cooked add the grinded mixture in to it.
  • Mix well .cook for few minutes.then switch off the flame.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Splutter mustard seed,fry red chilli and curry leaves.
  • Pour the seasoning in to the curry.
  • Tasty sweet potato puzhukku is ready to have with rice/kanji.
