Sweet Potato Chapathi

To take the boredom away from eating chapathis the same old way, we tried a variation of chapathi using sweet potatos. To disguise the sweetness of sweet potato we spiced it up a little and there was no hint of sweetness in these chapathis.

What you need for Sweet potato chapathi:
  • Sweet Potato -1
  • Cumin powder-1/2 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder -1/2 tbsp
  • Wheat Flour - 1 Cup
  • Salt to taste
The preparation method:
  • Pressure cook the sweet potato for 3 or 4 whistles.
  • Peel the skin and mash well .
  • In a bowl add red chilli powder, cumin powder and salt to mashed sweet potato.
  • Add wheat flour and mix it nicely to make chapathi dough.
  • Mostly we don't need to add water to make dough as water will come from the sweet potato mixture. If needed sprinkle some water and make a soft dough .keep it aside for 15 minutes.
  • After 15 mins, knead the dough again and make small balls out of the dough and using a rolling pin, roll the dough ball to a thin chapathi. Repeat the steps and roll the remaining balls
  • Heat a tawa, when the tawa is hot enough, add the chapathi, and add little oil or butter and allow it to cook it on one side
  • Turn the chapathi to another side and cook evenly. Repeat the same for cooking the rest of chapathis
  • The delicious Sweet Potato chapati is ready to serve hot with a curry.
