Papaya Halwa

Papaya is a power house of vitamins, completely power-packed with nutrition. Papaya has whole lot of documented medicinal effects ranging from reducing the risk of heart diseases to protection from cancer and also aiding digestion and promoting lung health. Papaya Halwa is a simple sweet dish  - simply yummy !

What you need for Papaya Halwa:

  • Papaya - 1 small
  • Sugar- 1/2 cup
  • Cardamom powder- 1/4 tbsp
  • Ghee -3 tbsp
  • Cashew nuts - 5 no
  • Raisins - few
  • Milk - 4 tbsp


  • The Preparation method:
    • Peel the papaya and remove the seeds
    • Cut into small cubes and grind it in a blender without adding water you can add milk if necessary
    • Heat 1 tsp of ghee in a pan and fry the cashews and  raisins and keep it aside
    • In the same pan heat 1 tablespoon of ghee and add  papaya puree and fry for a couple of minutes
    • Close the pan and let it cook for 10 minutes in medium flame or until most of the moisture is absorbed
    • Now add 1/2 cup of sugar. The color of the halwa will turn little more dark
    • Add ghee little by little and keep stirring continuously in medium flame
    • In another 10 -15 minutes the halwa will thicken and comes of the sides of the pan
    • If you touch the halwa it will be little sticky
    • Add cardamom powder and mix well and switch off the flame
    • Garnish with fried cashews and raisins.
    • Enjoy the lip smacking halwa!
