Today I was not feeling well and didn't feel like eating anything.I could only think of only one food which fills the stomach and is also a medicine - the one and only Rasam.

- Coriander seeds - 2 tbsp (ok if you just have coriander powder)
- Pepper corn - 1 tbsp
- Cumin/Jeera seeds - 1/4 tbsp
- Small onion/cheriya ulli / chinna vengayam - 3
- Garlic pods - 2
- Red chilli -2
- Curry leaves - a few leaves
- Tamarind - a small piece soaked in water
- Tomato - 2 nicely chopped
- Hing / Asafoetida - a small pinch
- Turmeric - 1/4 tbsp
- Salt to taste
The preparation method:
- Coarsely grind the small onion,garlic, curry leaves , red chilli,coriander seeds/powder,pepper corn/powder,cumin/jeera ( do not add water while grinding)
- Heat some oil and splutter mustard seeds.Add the finely chopped tomato and cook till well done.
- Add the coarsely grinded contents to this and add some water.
- Add turmeric powder , hing and salt.
- Now take the tamarind soaked in water.Squeeze the juice out of tamarind and add it to our Rasam along with the water in which it was soaked.
- Don't allow the Rasam to boil for long. Once the first bubbles start appearing , switch off the gas.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and Rasam is ready is to served hot with rice!
- I am already feeling good just by smelling the aroma of Rasam
