Methi Chicken Curry

This is our first non-veg posting.We always have a soft corner for chicken dishes (poor chicken).It had been sometime since we had a chicken dish and decided to make methi(fenugreek) chicken curry.It is simple but delicious curry and this is how we made it to accompany our dosa.


What you need to prepare Methi Chicken:
  • Chicken (preferably thigh portion) - 1/2 kg cut into small pieces
  • Onion - 2 finely chopped
  • Tomato - 2 finely chopped
  • Green chilli - 2-3
  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  • Methi leaves - 1 bunch , just the leaves - washed well
  • Cumin / Jeera seeds - 1/2 tbsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder - a pinch
  • Garam masala - 1/4 tbsp
  • Curd - 1 cup ( whisked)
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing

The preparation method:
  • Heat some oil in a large pan and add cumin seeds.Fry for a few seconds and then add chopped onion and salt. Sauté till the onions turn golden brown.Add green chilli,ginger-garlic paste and saute for some more time till the raw taste of ginger-garlic paste goes away.
  • Add chopped tomatoes and cook till the tomatoes are well done(add water if necessary).
  • Add the whisked curd and all the coriander ,red chilli , garam masala (add any other chicken masala powder you may have) powders and mix well.
  • Add the methi leaves and cook for a minute.
  • Now for the grand finale , add the chicken pieces and cook for 15 minutes till chicken is well cooked.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves. Hot and spicy methi chicken is ready to meet our dosas!!!
