Carrot halwa

Carrot or Gajar halwa is a rich and creamy Indian dessert recipe with the goodness of milk, nuts and the natural sweetness of carrots. This is probably one of the most popular of Indian desserts.


What you need for carrot halwa:
  • Carrot-4 peeled and grated
  • Milk-2 cup
  • Cashew-8 broken
  • Almond-8 broken
  • Raisins -10
  • Sugar-1 cup
  • Ghee -2 tbsp
  • Cardamom-3
The preparation method:
  • Pressure cook the carrot with milk for one whistle.
  • Transfer this to a heavy kadai or non stick pan and stir until the moisture is fully evaporated.
  • Add sugar and cardamom powder.
  • Fry for few more minutes till it becomes dry and remove from gas.
  • Heat ghee in a pan fry the cashew nuts,and almonds.
  • Add this mixture in to the carrot mixture.
  • Garnish with raisins.
  • Sweet and tasty carrot halwa is ready to served hot or cold(even better with vanilla ice cream).
