Mutton Kheema

Mutton kheema or mince is a great non vegetarian dish which is a delicacy served throughout the country, especially in Hyderabad. Mutton kheema gravy can be relished with bread or rice and when semi dry; it makes a great snack. 


What you need for Mutton Kheema:
  • Minced lamb- 1/2 kg 
  • Onion- 2 finely chopped 
  • Tomatoes- 2 finely chopped 
  • Green chilies- 2 slit
  • Grated ginger- 1 piece 
  • Crushed Garlic- 3 pods
  • Red chili powder- 1 tbsp 
  • Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp 
  • Coriander powder- 1 tsp 
  • Cumin powder- 1/2 tsp 
  • Garam masala powder- 3/4 tsp 
  • Cinnamon- 1 piece
  • Bay leaves- 1
  • Cloves- 2 
  • Green cardamoms- 2 
  • Chopped cilantro (coriander) leaves
  • Salt to taste 
The preparation method:
  • Heat the oil in a pan and fry the cinnamon, cardamoms and cloves for a minute 
  • Add the onions and fry until golden brown.
  • Add ginger- garlic and green chillies and fry for couple of minutes. 
  • Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder,coriander powder and half of the garam masala powder and stir-fry for 5 minutes. 
  • Add the tomatoes and salt. Mix well. When the moisture in the tomato is fully absorbed, then stir-fry for 2 minutes
  • Add meat and sauté for 5 minutes. 
  • Add 2 cups of water and cook until the meat is tender.
  • Add the remaining garam masala powder and stir fry for 5 more minutes. 
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.  
  • Mutton Kheema is ready to served hot with roti or rice, it goes well with a curd salad
