Grapes Pickle

We got the idea for this innovative recipe from Akkarakazhagal - a very funny mallu sitcom. This pickle has an unique taste from the sweetness of grapes , hotness from the spices and sourness from vinegar. Must try for those who likes a change from the usual.

What you need for Grapes pickle:
  • Grapes- 2 cups (separated from stem)
  • Ginger -1 piece chopped
  • Garlic - 10 pods chopped
  • Green Chilly- 3 chopped
  • Chilly powder- 3 tbsp
  • Fenugreek Powder- 1 tbsp
  • Asafoetida powder- 1/2 tbsp
  • Sugar- 1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds- 1/2 tbsp
  • Vinegar- 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Eastern pickle powder- 4 tbsp (You can use only pickle powder instead of all the powders)
The preparation method:
  • Heat oil in a pan.Splutter mustard seeds and ginger, garlic,curry leaves and green chillies and allow it to get roasted in a medium flame.
  • Add grapes, salt ,powders like chilli,fenugreek ,asafoetida or instead  of all this powders you can add pickle powder only, vinegar and sugar.
  • Allow it to boil.Water will come from the grapes itself so no need of adding water.
  • Yummy grapes pickles is ready to be served with rice.
