An easy veg dish for the lazy amongst us....

What you need to prepare Cabbage Dal :
- 1/2 kg cabbage
- 1 cup chana dal
- 1 onion (finely chopped)
- 1 tomato (finely chopped)
- 1 tsp chilli powder or to taste
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- salt to taste
- few coriander leaves for garnishing
- Ginger-Garlic paste
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- few curry leaves
Preparation Method:
- Chop the cabbage into medium size thin strips.
- Clean and wash the dal.
- Pressure cook cabbage and dal with 1 cup of water for 1 or 2 whistles.
- Remove from heat and keep aside.
- Heat a deep pan with oil and add mustard seeds.
- When they start to pop add curry leaves, chopped onions and sauté for few mins.
- Add chopped tomatoes and sauté till the tomatoes become juicy.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté till the raw smell disappears.
- Add chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt.
- Sauté for few seconds.
- Add pressure cooked cabbage and dal.
- Combine well and cover with a lid and cook on low flame for 5 mins.
- Finally adjust salt and garnish with coriander leaves.
- Remove from heat and cabbage dal is ready to serve.
- Serve with rice or roti.
