Bread upma

If you have spare bread pieces and too lazy to make elaborate breakfast , we would highly recommend Bread Upma.This is an easy breakfast to make on those lazy Saturday and Sunday mornings.

What you need to make Bread Upma:
  • Bread-4 slices shredded into small pieces
  • Onion-1 chopped fine
  • Green chilli-2 slit
  • Chana dal-1 tbsp
  • Mustard seed-1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves-few
  • Cumin/jeera-1/2 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder-a pinch
  • Hing-a pinch
  • Cilantro-few
  • Salt to taste
The preparation method:
  • Heat some oil in a wide pan and splutter mustard seeds and crack jeera seeds.
  • Add the chana dal and fry till they turn slightly brown.
  • Add the curry leaves, green chilli , hing , turmeric powder and fry them for a minute.
  • Add the chopped onion and sauté them with salt till they turn golden brown.
  • Finally, add the shredded bread pieces and mix well.Fry till the bread pieces turn slightly brown.Garnish with cilantro leaves.
  • Easy and quick Bread Upma is ready for breakfast!
