Spinach Dal curry

Spinach Dal or Cheera Parippu is a very healthy curry as spinach is rich in iron and dal is rich in protein.

What you need for Cheera parippu curry:
  • Spinach/cheera-2 cup chopped
  • Parippu/Toor daal-1 cup
  • Coconut-1/2 cut into small pieces
  • Red chilli-2
  • Pepper-1 tbsp
  • Small onion-4
  • Garlic -2 pods
  • Cumin-1/2 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder - a pinch
The preparation method:
  • Pressure cook toor dal  with turmeric powder,and salt.Keep it aside.
  • Grind the coconut with pepper,small onion,red chilli,garlic and cumin.Add a little water if necessary.
  • Add this grinded mixture to the cooked  toor dal in the pressure cooker.Boil for a while.
  • Add chopped spinach/cheera and remove when you see bubbles coming up.
  • For seasoning, heat some oil in a pan and saute the chopped small onion.
  • Add this seasoning to the spinach dal curry.
  • Healthy and Yummy Spinach Dal / Cheera Parippu curry is ready to be served hot with rice.
