Kerala Style Chicken curry

This is our favourite chicken curry,and of course Malayali style of preparation.This is a very simple recipe,and tastes great with rice or Indian bread.


What you need for Kerala style chicken curry:
  • Chicken-1/2kg - cleaned and cut into small pieces
  • Onion-2 chopped fine
  • Tomato-2 chopped fine
  • Ginger garlic paste-1 tbsp
  • Green chilli-2 slit
  • Coconut-5 pieces thinly chopped
  • Curry leaves-few
  • Cilantro leaves-few
  • Chicken/Meat masala-3tbsp
  • Mustard-1/2 tbsp
  • Lemon juice-1 tbsp
  • Small Onion-2
  • Salt to taste
The preparation method:
  • Marinate the chicken with chicken masala powder,salt and lemon for at least 15 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds. Sauté onion,green chilli,curry leaves and ginger garlic paste,and salt till the onions turn are slightly brown.
  • Add chopped tomato and cook till they are well cooked.
  • Add chicken /meat masala powder and little water.
  • Add chicken pieces and close the lid. Cook till the chicken pieces become tender.
  • For seasoning, fry thinly chopped coconut pieces and small onion till they turn slightly brown.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves. 
  • Tasty  Kerala style chicken curry is ready to be served hot with rice or Indian bread.
