Enna Kathirikai /Whole brinjal curry is kind of a spicy and sour curry which goes great with any rice dish especially the biriyani. Ideally , to make this recipe you need very tender small brinjals.

What you need for Enna Kathrikai / Whole Brinjal Curry:
  • Brinjal-5 small - cut in the sides
  • Onion-1 chopped fine
  • Garlic-4 pods
  • Tomato-2 chopped and grinded
  • Tamarind-1 small ball
  • Green chilli-2
  • Fenugreek seed-1/2 tbsp
  • Curry leaves-few
  • Mustard seed-1/2 tbsp
  • Home made masala powder-2 tbsp
  • Sugar-1 tbsp
  • salt to taste
The preparation method:
  • Heat oil in a pan.Splutter mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds.
  • Add chopped onion,garlic,green chilli,curry leaves and salt.
  • Add cut whole brinjal also and fry for few mins.
  • Add the ground tomato into this.
  • Add the home masala powder ( combination of coriander,chilli and turmeric powder) and allow them to cook.
  • Finally add the tamarind juice and sugar.
  • Yummy Enna Kathrikai is ready to served hot with biriyani,roti or any rice dish.
