Banana stew

Ripe bananas (Nenthrapazham) stewed in coconut milk is a popular Kerala dish. This goes great with Idiyappam.

What you need for banana stew:

  • Ripe banana-1 chopped into thin slices
  • Coconut milk-1 cup
  • Ghee-2 tbsp
  • Sugar-2tbsp
  • Small onion-4
  • Cardamom-2
  • Salt to taste
The preparation method:
  • Boil the banana in water and salt.
  • When the banana is well cooked , add sugar and cardamom.
  • Add coconut milk.Mix well.
  • Heat ghee in a pan and sauté the chopped shallot.
  • Yummy banana stew is ready to serve with idiyappam.
