Chicken Thoran


Chicken Thoran is a Kerala style chicken stir fry .Thoran is made with chicken boneless pieces with coconut and masala.It a side dish for rice,roti or can be used as filling in burgers/sandwiches.
What you need to make Chicken Thoran:
  • Chicken pieces (cut into small pieces) - ½ kg (boneless)
  • Onions (sliced) - 2 cups
  • Garlic (chopped) - 2 tbsp
  • Ginger (chopped) - 2 tbsp
  • Green chillies (chopped) - 8 no.
  • Chicken masala powder - 2 tbsp
  • Pepper (crushed) - 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Coconut (grated) - 1 cup
  • Curry leaves
  • Coriander leaves - ½ cup
  • Salt
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Chana Dal - 1 tbsp
  • Bay leaf 
The preparation method:
  • Heat three teaspoons of oil in a pan. Put mustard seeds, urad dal, cumin seeds, curry leaves, ginger and garlic. 
  • Now add green chillies and big onions. Stir and sauté for some time and add the chicken pieces. Mix gently. Add chicken masala, crushed pepper, turmeric powder and salt.
  • You may now add two cups of water. Add bay leaf. Cover the vessel and cook well. 
  • When all of the water is absorbed, add grated coconut. Mix well. Cook for some more time. 
  • Add chopped coriander leaves and stir a bit.
  • Delicious and spicy Chicken Thoran is now all yours.
