Bitter Gourd Poriyal

If you can tolerate the bitterness of the Bitter gourd/Karela/Pavakkai, it is one of the best vegetable for your health.it helps to prevent or counteract type-II diabetes and is also full of iron.


What you need For Pavakkai poriyal:
  • Bitter gourd-2 finely chopped
  • Onion-1 chopped
  • Green chilli-2
  • Mustard-1/2 tbsp
  • Curry leaves-few
  • Salt to taste
The preparation method:
  • Heat some oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds.
  • Add chopped onion,green chilli and curry leaves.
  • Saute for some time and then add bitter guard/pavakkais and salt.
  • Add littile water and cook till the pavakkais' are well done.
  • Pavakkai poriyal is ready to be served hot as a side dish for rice.
